Through Ummannoor Grama Panchayat
Among the six panchayats in the Vettikkavala block, Ummannoor Panchayat has the most diverse landforms. Ayoor is nearly two kilometers away from the Ummannoor panchayat boundary. Located about 12 kilometers from Kottarakkara, Ummannoor Panchayat features an undulating terrain. Although Ummannoor is situated in the midland region according to Kerala's topography, 28 percent of its area lies above 80 meters. The general slope of the panchayat is from south to northwest. The boundaries are Vettikkavala Panchayat (8.88 km) to the north, Kottarakkara Panchayat (4.08 km) to the northwest, Veliyam Panchayat (8.52 km) to the southwest, Elamad Panchayat (7.52 km) to the south, and Edamulakkal Panchayat (8.2 km) to the east. Based on topography, Ummannoor Panchayat can be classified into four types: uplands, steep sloped areas, moderately sloped areas, and valleys. Highly elevated areas can be seen in almost all parts of the panchayat. Elevated ridges can be seen running almost through the middle, between the Thevannoor-Ayoor stream and the Kulathi stream. This includes the central parts of Ummannoor and Ambalakkara wards, the eastern side of Nellikunnam, south of Vilangara ward, northeast of Nellikunnam, Kambamcode, Neelamala, northern parts of Pera, and Thiravattoor Colony. Neelamala, the highest point in the panchayat, is located in the 12th ward of Ambalakkara. Its height is 163 meters. This zone covers 13.4 percent of the total area of the panchayat. Although steep slopes are found in various parts of the panchayat, they are mostly concentrated from the central region towards the west. These include Ambalakkara, Kambamcode, and Neelamala areas, the eastern side of Chunkathara, north of Nirappuvila, and the northern parts of Vadakode.
